Tiki Bar

I love hosting Tiki parties and with the warm summer months ahead I would love to have a custom made Tiki bar for the back yard! I know I would be the envy of all my Tiki-loving friends and I think the video below is an example of an awesome custom made Tiki Bar!

It is super cute and fun and I think I would really enjoy serving cocktails and delicious drinks from behind that bar! I think I’m going to show my husband this video tonight and talk him into purchasing this. I’m sure he knows we need a Tiki bar too – haha!

Brady Bunch & The Upset Tiki Gods

My husband was telling me about an episode of the Brady Bunch that he remembered from many years ago. It was an episode in which the gang went to Hawaii and was cursed by a Tiki statue. I thought that it was funny he had remembered it so many years later.

Today I did some searching on youtube and found the full length episode. I also found this video that is a few minutes of the show. It shows where the bad Tiki luck all started!

Take a blast from the past and check out the four minute clip of some Tiki fun and the Brady Bunch. It is pretty much filled with spiders and not a lot else – but you get the fist of it!

Tiki Waterfront Seagrill Thai Snapper

I love Tiki food. It usually is composed of a lot of delicious seafood and various spices. In this video the host is using Thai flavors. Personally, I love Thai food and I’m excited to try this recipe!

It is a Thai snapper with ginger, garlic, lemon grass, onions, Thai chilies, and more deliciousness for a perfect Tiki-inspired recipe! This would be perfect for a Spring/Summer evening or cut up into bite-sized pieces for a Tiki party!

It appears the poster of this video did not following through with actually making the animated series? Or at least I cannot find it online. It truly has so much potential I want to watch the cartoon!

In the opening credits you will see guest appearances from: Tiki, Dean Martin’s Ghost, Martini, Colette, Natalie, PT Chris, Karl & Zag. They look like such a fun and interesting bunch! This is was put together by 3rd Martini and I hope he follows through with this for us Tiki fanatics out there.

Behind the Scenes: SHAG's 40th Anniversary Art at Walt Disney World Resort

I found this video on youtube today and it is absolutely MAGICAL! Of course Disney World is utterly magical, but to have an art collaboration with Josh Agle, AKA Shag, is so incredible.

In this video you see a short interview with Josh Agle, AKA Shag, about his art and how Disney World has influenced his work and life. Personally, I own one fabulous Shag pice of art and I love it so much. I am hoping to add more to my collection, but we shall see.

Tiki Art by Shag

I love the artist know as Shag. He is also known as Josh Agle and he does amazing Tiki art, among other things. He is so cute, and his work is so fabulous. I have one coveted print of his at this time, but I’m definitely looking to purchase more.

I found this video on youtube today, showing Shag at a Tiki themed book and art signing. He seems so sweet and genuinely happy with what he does. I’m dying to get some more Shag art and have been looking online for more prints.

He is hands down my favorite Tiki artist, and honestly just one of my favorite artists in general. Check out the video below:

There is a Tiki themed and Hello Kitty themed restaurant in Hawaii called Makittii. It looks like the most adorable place in the world with large stuffed Hello Kitty dolls all over the place. It also looks quite delicious as it has a large buffet of Hawaiian food to boot.

Their all you can buffet features everything from seafood to sweets and is sure to bring out the kid in all of us. I found a video on youtube today where a tourist shows some of the features of this restaurant. It is quite adorable and I’m already planning my trip to Hawaii to check it out!

I now consider Hawaii to be one of the most magical places in the world! Check out the video below and start planning your trip now!

Luau Party Tips : Making Luau Decorations

Luau and Tiki themed parties are hands down my favorite parties of the year! These parties typically take place on warm, sunny Spring and Summer evenings. The weather is perfect and the drinks are cool. The combination is heavenly and I enjoy these parties so much!

In my last post I mentioned my sister and I have an annual Tiki themed party every year that our friends and family rave about for months to come. We typically spend quite a bit in preparation between the decorations, the food and of course, the drinks! In this video the host shows us how to make some cute and simple decorations for a Tiki and Luau party that do not cost a lot of money.

Luau decorations can be made out of fresh or silk flowers, pineapples, coconuts, paper and straw. I also love how the host mentions Orientaltrading.com. That is a great place to stock up on Tiki items for your next Tiki themed party!

How To Make a Lei

My sister and I throw an annual Tiki themed party every year that all our friends and family simply adore! We take several months planning it and making sure it is perfect when then the time arrives. We make sure all aspects of the party are set up, even down to the very last lei!

As the host in this video states leis are meant to be tokens of affection. They are given on special occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries, graduation and other special events. The rule is you must always accept the lei! Never refuse. And never remove the lei in the presence of the person who gave it to you.

Leis can be made from flowers, leaves, shells, seeds, nuts, feathers and even candy, all of which can be strung onto a piece of string or ribbon. Check out the great video below on tips for making leis at home!

I found this great video on youtube today entitled Luau Party Tips : Tiki Hut Decorations. As Spring and Summer are quickly approaching the Tiki parties and bbqs are sure to be in full swing in no time at all!

In this video the host talks about some great ideas for your next Tiki themed party. It is all about setting the mood and making the most of Tiki. One idea is to purchase an actual Tiki hut for the party. This makes a cozy and intimate space perfect for that next party.

I also like that she mentions you can do different themes and variations of Tiki such as surfer, nautical, or tropical. Going with a certain theme and direction is perfect for setting the best Tiki vibes possible. The video is rather short; however, it gives some great tips on how to decorate for that next Tiki party!
